SCCM & Intune Deployment Centralises Device Management for Healthcare Provider
The outcome

100% of 420 devices enrolled under centralised management across all 6 sites. We delivered this outcome for Regional Healthcare Provider (420 users across 6 sites) by combining SCCM Deployments, Intune, Windows Server into a single strategic engagement.

Patch compliance improved from 45% to 99.5% within 3 months
Software deployment time reduced from 2 weeks to 2 hours per application
NHS DSP Toolkit compliance achieved — all device controls verified and documented
Windows Autopilot enables zero-touch provisioning — new devices ready out of the box
01The Problem

What Regional Healthcare Provider was facing

A regional healthcare provider with six sites across the UK had no centralised device management. Each site managed its own devices independently, leading to inconsistent security configurations, patch levels that varied by months, no visibility into the overall device estate, and no way to enforce compliance with NHS DSP Toolkit requirements. With 420 devices across six locations — including clinical workstations, admin laptops, and mobile devices used by clinicians for remote consultations — they needed a centralised device management solution that would work across all sites, support both on-premises and remote devices, and enforce NHS compliance.

02Our Consulting Approach

How we solved it

We designed a co-management strategy using both SCCM and Microsoft Intune — SCCM for on-premises clinical workstations requiring deep management control, and Intune for remote and mobile devices needing cloud-based management. We configured SCCM with distribution points at each of the six sites for efficient software deployment, designed automated patch deployment rings aligned to NHS maintenance windows, and wrote compliance policies aligned to DSP Toolkit requirements. For Intune, we configured conditional access to restrict non-compliant devices from accessing clinical systems, deployed Microsoft 365 apps via Intune, and implemented mobile device management for clinician phones and tablets. We also deployed Windows Autopilot for zero-touch provisioning of new devices.
